I would like to + (verb)


This sentence lets someone know what you would be interested in doing.  This can be a physical, mental or verbal action.


Here are some examples:

"I would like to answer that question."
"I would like to compete in a cooking contest."

"I would like to invite you over."
"I would like to practice."
"I would like to become a doctor."
"I would like to see you more often."
"I would like to thank you."

When you ask for permission to use something that belongs to someone else you have to do your best to be polite. It is desirable to use the word " please ." Asking for Permission: Can  I go out, please? May  I open the window, please? Please,  can  I have a look at your photo album? Please,  may  I taste that hot spicy couscous dish?
